Bathroom Faucet Installation

Los Angeles Service

Before embarking on a rushed project to replace the whole sink, check if it's the faucet that needs to be fixed first. You have to know the kind of type of faucet that you currently have before getting a new one. The most used faucet are the single hole, the 4” triple hole and the 8” triple hole. You can get rid of your old faucet only if you want to install a new one entirely. If that's the case, you still have check to confirm if your bathroom vanity is compatible with the kind of faucet that you want.

The first thing you need to do is turn off the water supply to the faucet. The valve has to be under the sink. If it's not, turn off the main water valve to the house. Turn on the faucet to drain water and relieve pressure. Next, remove the lift rod from the pop-up assembly and the supply chains from the faucet. Then back off the faucet mounting nuts using your hands or a basin wrench.

If you have to detach the P-trap to have more space to work, disconnect the P-trap, by placing a bucket under it to collect water. Unscrew the slip nuts and washer from the tailpiece and clean the faucet holes. Now you can start installing the bathroom faucet. As usual, the manufacturer will give you specific installation instructions. This will most likely involve fixing the gasket under the faucet, using putty or sealant. Fix the faucet inside the holes for mounting, tightening the mounting nuts under. After the lift rod is installed, reconnect the water supply lines, making use of a basin wrench if necessary. Then, detach the aerator. This removes the faucet of anything that can obstruct it, like debris from the manufacturing process or sediment.

If it has not been assembled already, attach the handles to the faucet. This is a very simple process and you can then tighten the setscrew/handle screw that holds it in place.

Reattach the p-trap and trap arm and make sure the slip nut washers are installed, then tighten the slip nuts again.

Ensure that you take care of all the tools that the manufacturer provided because they will be needed for repairs and maintenance. Check both the cold and hot water, drainpipes and faucets for any kind of leaks. To see if the instruction of the manufacturer is followed through. If that's not the case, you will have to check back to see what you missed.
